If you just received your diesel diagnostic laptop, this step-by-step guide will walk you through your first connection so you can start scanning, resetting, or performing regen procedures with confidence.
🔌 Step 1: Connect Your Laptop to the Truck

Plug your USB diagnostic adapter (USB-Link 3 or Nexiq) into your laptop.

Connect the other end to your vehicle’s diagnostic port (usually 9-pin or OBD).

Turn the key to the ON position — ignition on, engine off, with all dash lights illuminated.

Open your laptop and locate the correct diagnostic software icon on the desktop.
You are now ready to choose the right program.
